Updates Concerning Classes

We recognize that some students have voiced their preference to return to in-person instruction. As soon as we can find an instructor to teach in-person classes we will be offering them again.

Children's classes for this Fall term have, thus far, remained unconfirmed. If we confirm children's courses, they would tentatively begin in late September/early October. We hope that you remain patient with us as logistics are confirmed.

French Levels

How do you know which Level French you are considered? Take a look at this handy ACTFL graphic to see which proficiency level describes you?

Placement Test
If this is your first time at the Alliance and you are starting to study French for the first time, you do not need to take a placement test. If you have studied French and feel you are not an absolute beginner, you can take an online Placement Test.

Option #1: (10 minutes for less) Language If you have studied French already,  and would like to take an online test, please take this short test. Be prepared to take a screen shot of your results.  This test is created by Language Level.Com  Free Language Level Test

Option #2: (90 minutes maximum, expect to spend at least 35 minutes) The TCF (Test de Connaissance Français) test is available for free to the general public. It can be found on TV5MONDE’s learning site. Be prepared to take a screen shot of your results. This language test is created by TV5MONDE.  Test de Connaissance Français

Email us at education@afbuffalo.org and send us your results so that we can set-up a short oral interview with one of our instructors.
