Title: "French Art, Culture, and History"

Day of the week: Mondays

Dates: April 19, 26, May 3, 10 

Time slot: 5-6:30pm (90 minute classes)

Course fee: 

$84 AFB members (registration fee waived), Non-members add $25 semester registration fee

Language: French

Teacher: Ashley Byczkowski

Description: Practice and improve your French listening and speaking skills through this culturally enriching 4-week course. Each week we will explore a different historical period of France all through its visual art. We will start with the 1789 Revolution and end with WWII. The course is for intermediate to advanced level students and will include presentations on artworks as well as in-class discussions and creative partner conversations. The course will be taught in French, no prior knowledge of French art is necessary, and no materials are required to be purchased. All classes will be held on Zoom. 

About the teacher: Ashley Byczkowski is a Buffalo native and PhD candidate in French Literature at the University at Buffalo. She has taught all levels of French language and literature, as well as a year of English at l’Université de Paris-Diderot. “Let’s come together over fascinating artworks in an even more fascinating language! Title: "Santé! Fitness and Health from a French perspective"


Day of the week: Tuesday mornings

Dates: April 6, 13, 20, 27

Time slot: 7-8 am

Course fee: $56 AFB members AFB members (registration fee waived), Non-members add $25 semester registration fee

Teacher: Sarah Paige


Learn about fitness and improve your French without breaking a sweat. This class is for beginners (A1-B1, and total beginners welcome) and is designed to help you build confidence in comprehension and speaking skills.

No materials necessary, we will be looking at French videos and websites (in French), class materials will be emailed ahead of time. Discussion is in English and Franglais as we help you understand the material, build important language learning skills and get you started speaking French to your classmates!


About the teacher: Sarah Paige is a Physical Therapy student and Certified Medical Interpreter who learned French as an adult, fell in love with it, and is passionate about using language skills to help people. “With years of experience teaching ESL professionally, this will be my first ever French language class. I am excited to learn more about this topic with you. On y va!”
