George Courteline’s comedy “La Peur Des Coups” (Afraid to Fight) is a long domestic fight between a husband and his wife, returning home after an evening out. According to the violent, stingy and overzealous husband, she had been courted all night by a young and handsome army officer – and she loved it. |

In Jean Cocteau's play "La Voix Humaine" (The Human Voice), a lone woman keeps getting interrupted by a bad connection as she talks on the phone to a lover with whom she's just broken up. The piece was written in 1930, but anybody who has ever experienced a lost signal will empathize. |
